We just switched from individually installed clients for Management Reporter to a RemoteApp setup. Everything works fine but today, we discovered an issue trying to export to Excel. Whenever we try to do this, we get the attached error. Has anyone else gotten this or have any recommendations on how to clear it up. Any help is greatly appreciated as always.Excel Export Error

    Jon,
What browser are you using to export the file to excel? You have to update the download settings in the browser.

In Server 2012 you're not able to download a file :

    Server 2012 Downloadhttps://i0.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download1.png?resize=150%2C53&ssl=1 150w, https://i0.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download1.png?resize=400%2C141&ssl=1 400w, https://i0.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download1.png?w=485&ssl=1 485w" sizes="(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px" />

Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded

    Solution:

    Server 2012 Downloadhttps://i2.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download2.png?resize=117%2C150&ssl=1 117w, https://i2.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download2.png?resize=400%2C512&ssl=1 400w, https://i2.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download2.png?w=423&ssl=1 423w" sizes="(max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px" />

    Click on Custom level

    Server 2012 Downloadhttps://i1.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download3.png?resize=131%2C150&ssl=1 131w, https://i1.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download3.png?resize=400%2C455&ssl=1 400w, https://i1.wp.com/www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/S2012-IE-download3.png?w=427&ssl=1 427w" sizes="(max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px" />

Select the "Enable" file download option

    Hi, @Jon Godwin,

You didn't say whether the export to Excel was tried in the Desktop Viewer or the Web Viewer. If it's the Web Viewer, have you tried exporting from the Desktop Viewer? Exporting reports is a Management Reporter permission allowed for all M-R roles in the Desktop Viewer. I'm not sure about the Web Viewer -- which I seldom use because of the terrible printing capability. The M-R documentation I have (from 2013) doesn't mention the Web Viewer in the section on "Export a report to Microsoft Excel".

I know that I've done it from the Web Viewer, but I always have had the Administrator role. Is what you've described happening for certain users or for everyone?

    Regards,

@Steve Erbach, sorry I wasn't clear. We're using the Desktop viewer but sharing it as a RemoteApp. That's why I'm not sure it's an internet explorer permissions issue but I'll try some of the recommended changes

    @Jon Godwin,

    >> We're using the Desktop viewer but sharing it as a RemoteApp.  <<

Hmmm... that's how we ran M-R at my last job.

Again, is the problem occurring for all users or some subset?

This looks like an Internet Explorer error, from having downloads disabled.  Try enabling them in security settings, and see if it fixes the issue.

    - In IE, click settings, then Internet Options.
    - Select the Security tab, click Internet, then Custom level.
    - Scroll to Downloads, then select Enable and click OK.
    - Restart IE, and try your export again.

    Hi @Jon Godwin.

If you are exporting from the Report Viewer application (not the Web Browser), it is probably that the folder you are exporting to is not shared with the network account that runs the MR services.
