ActivReporter VS Management Reporter

    Hello!

I was recently introduced to ActivReporter in lieu of using Management Reporter. Has anyone started using this new application? We are planning to get the Demo to see how much faster it will be when we run our reports. It is said to be an add on to excel where it will be able to update the data and show what is in that specific GL.

Any information would be beyond beneficial. Thank you!

    Hi @Cindy Tsang

I know I'm a partner but I have used ActivReporter and you will love it!  No more Rows+Columns+Trees, you'll really just be building in Excel and saving in Excel, etc.  It has a cool drill-in that kind of opens the same AccountTransactions view that you would see in SmartLists in GP, only immediately filtered to what you are drilling into.  It will then let you drill down (just like a SmartList) through the JE and all the way to the original transaction!

It's clean and since I am a partner I dove into the background of it and it is constructed well too!

Of all the Excel-Based reporting softwares it is constructed to be like MR in that it only reads the financial data (anything in the AccountTransactions view in SQL can be found in ActivReporter.

It's also one of the best priced replacements for Management Reporter.   Management Reporter is (in reality) 1990's technology so it is time to move to a different medium for reporting for all companies on GP and this is one of the replacements I often recommend!

And, since it IS excel based you can build super awesome reporting with graphs and dashboards, etc!  There was no doing that in MR!

It can do much more, but you could get all of that from the website!  I do recommend this one!

    Hello!

Thank you so much for the information. Was it very easy to implement and roll out to your team?

    Hi Cindy,

I would second Jo's review of ActivReporter. Her review of the product is spot on! I couldn't have said it better myself.

In regards to your question regarding the ease of implementing and rolling the product out to the team, the installation process is quick and they have a standard import process to import existing MR report definitions to ActivReporter. Depending on your requirements, the reporting access security and distribution structure is the area that you will have to plan a little, but even then, it is not complicated.

I know of one client that spend almost a year trying to get all their necessary reports for multiple companies deployed with Management Reporter and it took only weeks to get them deployed with ActivReporter.

I would definitely recommend the product!

    HI Lisa,

Thank you so much for your insight! This really gives me a timeframe of how long it should take to move everything over and using ActivReporter to the best of its abilities.

You're welcome, it is very easy to roll out, but remember you still have to write the reports (translate them from MR) but there are a number to 'tricks' to help you with that.

We have been using ActivReporter well as of today it is now AccountingWare for well over a year. Very simple to setup easy to navigate and much simpler than Management Reporter. Marvin and his team make implementation a breeze and have great wiki for learning on the fly.

For all who are trying to save time and effort in moving off of Management Reporter.

ActivReporter does what you have been presented - it's wonderful in transfering over your "loved and needed" reports.

This is also a feature you get to take advantage of with Prospero.  They are 2 solutions that I know of that allows you to convert and save your rows/columns/tree very nicely.
