    I know we have many AP Vendors out there, and we have a need for a solution to the following:

    Our current invoice process involves vendors sending us an invoice via email.
    One of our Accounting personnel then opens the email and saves the attached invoice file to a network directory folder.
    The invoice file will then be reviewed multiple times; prior to posting of the AP batch and again before payment is made.

    We are looking to streamline this process so there is no need to spend time opening emails and saving files.
    The solution we are looking for might be as simple as something that can move attachments automatically from an Outlook 365 mailbox to the network folder, or as complex as creating a customer portal that allows them to upload their invoice rather than email it.

    Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to automate the transference of the invoice while staying under budget.  :)

    The kind of automation you are looking for is available in many tried-and-tested solutions.  My favorite is MetaViewer.  However, there are a couple of others that do this.

    What you are looking for is called 'OCR' technology and one of  the reasons I like the MetaViewer folks is that they use their own code instead of outsourcing the OCR code.

    Anyhoo.  With these solutions you simply have vendors send invoices to a certain email address and then based on logic that YOU'VE designed it just gets sucked into GP.

    Caveat, though, none of these solutions are 'inexpensive', but in the long run they will reduce cost and error for you.

    With OCR you can also get paper invoices and scan them to a location to just get sucked in.

    Most of these solutions also have very good workflow built around the process as well.....   I know PaperSave also has OCR, but unsure about other solutions.​

    Have you considered looking into EDI?  The whole reason it exists is for B2B document transfers like this.

    One of the big problems with email-based solutions is that they are very hard to automate because of a lack of specifications - you end up custom-configuring every customer's connection and document format.  I've been doing EDI for eight years now (we do manufacturing as well as buy-sell and reporting - all using EDI) and its a far better solution than email IMHO.

    We use DocLink from Altec for this.  It can monitor an email address and pull in attachments for processing.  From there you can define workflow rules for who needs to review/approve the invoices.  We use SmartConnect to get the approved invoices into GP.  
    I think KwikTag has the same sort of capabilities.

    AvidXChange can help you Mark.  We have API integration with GP for AP invoice and supplier payments.

    There are many AP Automation solutions.  Honestly I hear positive things on all of them - key is cusomizations and service.

    One that I have seen do this for a user is CoreIntegrator.

    CoreIntegrator can automatically extract invoices from your Outlook email and register them into their application.

    Or your vendors can even send invoices directly into their system.

    They also offer automated data entry that is near 100% accurate.
