Any Paylocity or Heartland Payment Payroll users?

    #HR and Payroll

About a year ago we switched from GP's internal Payroll (which we used for over 20 years) to BenefitMall, which was a 4 month onboarding, and while they said they supported GP, it was a bit of work to get them to follow the correct format correctly (ADP csv import for the GL). (Basically they told us they could , but nobody at their support seemed to have DONE it). But once it was done, it worked well, and integrated with EASE for our HR and benefits provided by our insurance broker.

Last week they (BenefitMall) sold their payroll customers to ADP. We're in the "you need to convert to ADP NOW" mode... But looking at ADP it doesn't seem to fit our needs.

So we're looking for alternates to ADP, and the two products our broker has shown are Paylocity and Heartland/Global Payments. Both claim they support GP.

I've seen a few posts of GPUG users on Paylocity, but no reviews (Good,Bad, or Ugly).  I seen nothing posted on Heartland Payment Systems.

Anyhow, I'm looking for any input, especially on the GP on-boarding/integration (which I'm betting is using  ADP Connect also), and how well it has worked out for you for ether of these two payroll products.

We had a demo of  Paylocity today, and it looks to be hard to beat as it integrates "360" with both our Benefits (EASE) and our 401K provider.
We have a demo with Heartland tomorrow, ADP is contacting us daily  that we need to let them switch us over.

    Thanks in advance!

Paul - I used Paylocity at my previous job (I was the CFO and oversaw payroll/HR as well). I found it to be easy to use. It functioned similar to ADP for the export of the payroll data for import into GP. We were not using GP, but we used the export to map into our accounting software (Sage). If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

I have had customers use ADP, Ultimate Software, and Pay Chex and all were able to generate the output data for the GL without an issue.  I think the challenge is the integration with the Benefit Management as that was a custom communication with the provider in all cases.  If a company already has the benefit management interface to your provider, that may be a big plus (but make sure it's there and not the "we can integrate to anything" scenario).
ADP and UltiPro (Ultimate Software) were both 4+ months implementation for both Payroll and HR and if you need some additional complex reporting such as data for job costing or manufacturing be prepare for additional cost on both.

You may also want to look at Greenshades as they have integrated tightly with Dynamics GP for 25+ years and they have a complete HR and Payroll package also.

We moved from GP Payroll and iSolved HR to Paylocity HR/Payroll.  We started the project mid March and HR was up and running for on boarding 1st of April.  Payroll has been running now since the 1st of June including the integration with the GL.  The implementation was very well organized and the staff at Paylocity are awesome.  I would not recommend doing it that quickly however, but we do have some complexities others may not, like weekly/biweekly pay frequencies and custom pay calculations....In the end we are very, very happy :-)
