    typo correction in subject: pulling*

We have multiple companies in our database, that we want to place under one master company. I see there is the customer combiner and modifier in the sales tab utility. But my question is, is it a one to one process? Or are we able to select many to one, and combine them to the one master company name? Then there is a question of, will it matter if the customers have different names to the master customer name, will the process run? I just watched a YouTube video on it, but, the video  did not do an example of multiple customers with different names. Any advise is appreciated.

One of the main advantages of outsourcing your app software development services is that it helps you get the job done faster and at a significantly lower cost. The main reason why this option works well for you is because you are able to choose skilled and talented professionals to work on your custom software development project. Also, since you don't have to spend a large amount of time learning the necessary skills to oversee the entire process, you can put more focus on the things that matter most to you, like the development roadmap.

combine multiple companies into a single company pretty easily using the customer combiner.  just create a tab delimited file with two columns.  the first column will be the from-customer id and the second will be the to customer id.  you can have the same to-customer id listed as often as needed in the second column.  when you open the customer combiner window, select your file as the import file and then hit the validate button.  the validation process will review your file contents and it any of your from or to customer id's don't exist you'll get a report stating that.  I think it also checks to see that from and to customers have the same parent id.  if no errors are returned then you can process the file.  it won't matter if the names are different.

just realize that the combiner will move all transactions from the from-customer over to the to-customer, and then the from-customer id will be deleted.  so it's not really "under the umbrella of the master".  if you just want to relate customers to a master id then you need to look at setting up national accounts so that you can then have parent-child relationships.

Customer Combiner will literally merge the customers under the "parent" as if the child customers never existed. Where there was once 2 customer ID's and names, there will be only one. You can upload the transition, but you have to list them one by one. Also there is NO reversing the process, unless you restore to a backup.

I think you want to look into National Accounts to create that Parent/Child relationship. unfortunately, i've never really used it so i don't have much insight on how it works.

So there are two possible outcomes, and if you could elaborate on which one it will help.

    1) Merge the two companies together.  As mentioned by others, In the Professional Services Tools Library (PSTL) there is a tool called Customer Combiner.  (If you don't have PSTL, it's available on the install media for Dynamics GP.)  I have used it and it alters the Customer Number (CUSTNMBR) for every record in the database in every table in the database, changing one to be the other.  (Found out it isn't restricted to Dynamics GP tables here.  Custom tables are also affected.)

After this, you need to run a Customer Reconcile for that customer so that it will rebuild the open A/R (and history) for that customer.  (If you run it on multiple customers, you'll also have to run the reconcile for each customer merged.)

If you merge the two customers together in this manner, one of the two will be completely eliminated from the company database - as if it had never existed.

    2) Link the two companies together in a Parent-Child relationship.  People usually do this when they want a consolidated A/R or consolidated financial statement, and there are a couple of ways to do it.  You can do it in GP itself, but it depends heavily on the GL accounts using the same formats and separators and that the customer numbers across GP companies be identical.  There are also a couple of third-party programs out there that have much more elegant/flexible solutions.

    3) Create your own master ID table.  This is what we did.  We were trying to tie into a web-based A/R collection system.  We wanted consolidated statements by customer, but the customer numbers didn't match across all databases and there were some internal reasons for not changing them.  So I created a custom Parent-Child matching system and the information we send to the web-based platform uses a Master ID and puts the company customer number in a User-Defined Field.  If interested in this, contact me directly and I can give you the code.

    Chase,
If you really want to combine companies, I see only one tool that can do this :
    https://crgroup.com/company-combiner/
CRG also has the Changer tool which allows various "merging" operations across the board in one GP company..
    https://crgroup.com/changer/
And they are also the only ones having a tool to reformat your Chart of Account easily..
    https://crgroup.com/Re-Formatter/

PSTL is good when you want to merge multiple customers in a single company as suggested by others.. not good across multiple companies.

Thanks for everyone's help. We ended up using the National accounts that was suggested!
