I am researching the grant management module. I haven't seen much discussion here in several years and would love to get feedback about your experience using it - from implementation to end user.

We are currently using the GL for grants, so we would have to turn on Analytical Accounting. How has this affected your workflow, reporting, etc?

AA adds some complexity to GP.  I have had limited experience with AA and not with Grant.  I had several clients use AA.  One had major issues and we ended up pulling it.  I believe they made it very difficult and did not train the users.  The other used AA to track one level below the main GL account vs creating lots of GL accounts.  They had no issues.  Las client was tracking one level but had import issues.  Reports were difficult but we were able to overcome it once we fixed the import issues. If you plan on integrating data into GP you will also need to make sure you can import the AA information as well.  Importing the data is my main background however  I know there are groups with Grant Management experience maybe you could reach out to the them.

​I'm in agreement  with Dan, the AA module in GP (which includes Grant Management) is cumbersome and adds an unnecessary complexity to the GP table structure as well as just processing.

As an alternative, GP also comes with a product called MDA (you already own it, in other words).

Using MDA can give you the reporting you are looking for as well, but it is not as cumbersome as AA.

I had presented on this topic in The Little Known Modules presentation the last summit, but here is a bit on MDA (in my opinion a great alternative)
