    Hi Guys,

Is there anyone who has successfully load scale out deployment for GP Web Client 2016 R2, using Windows Account also using externally singed security certificate.

    We have below servers:

    DB_SERVER,
    WEB_SERVER,
    SESSION_SERVER

All things till installation seems perfectly done. However, once we enter domain credentials on webpage https://websrvr/GP, then we are getting message 'Please wait while we get things ready' and this message remains there, not moving forward from here. Image attached.

We also checked in Dynamics event logs for both servers, but no corresponding message here.

Please guide what is missing here.

    Kind Regards.

The full URL for external users would normally require the domain name.

    Something like: https://websrvr001.mycompany.com/GP/Account/LogOn

We use externally signed wild card certs. No issues. GP2016R2

    Yes, exactly.

It comes every where, either user try to logon from webserver, session server or anyother client machine.

    Hi Irfan,

The most common thing I've seen cause the screen to hang on that 'Please Wait' screen is browser security settings. Try adding your Web Client domain to Trusted Sites on this machine, maybe Compatibility View mode too. You may need to run your browser as Administrator or disable UAC, depends on how locked down the machine is.

I do not think the problem is your browser being unable to locate the runtime in DNS. Were that the case, the screen would be grey and the background image for Microsoft Dynamics GP would have been loaded. Since we aren't seeing the logo, it means the code isn't to the part where it's trying to connect to the runtime.

That is better. Now it has authenticated the AD user and is trying to make the connection to GP SQL using the proxy SQL Login ID you created.
This connection is very slow if you are not on a Cisco fiber channel switch or fast giga speed ethernet.
If it never makes the connection review the User setups and the Proxy SQL Login and make sure you can login to GP normally as sa using the installed client

Glad to hear it is progressing. :)

This screen is indeed where your browser is trying to establish the SSL connection to the Runtime service. The most likely reason it's hanging on the Microsoft Dynamics GP screen it is now is that the browser cannot locate the Runtime in DNS, or a port is being blocked, or the certificate on the runtime is invalid.

First, find the hostname of your Runtime process.

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP Web Components\SessionService\SessionService.config
    key="RuntimeServiceBaseAddress"

If you ping this address from the machine you're connecting from, does it resolve to the IP address of the server?

Does the hostname in the file match a name on the certificate that's bound?

As for the proxy account, that could be what's the problem, but usually if that's the issue, it won't prevent the runtime connection, you would just erroneously be presented with the GP login window, rather than being auto-logged in.

I was getting this error for the scale-out deployment as well.

In my case it turned out to be a DNS issue as duly pointed out by Dan of Microsoft here.
Here is what I did to get around the challenge.

    • I had IT add an A alias record called gptrain1.fabrikam.com for session host machine 1 and
    • another A alias record called gptrain2.fabrikam.com for session host machine 2
    • The web server and session central were already on gpdemo.fabrikam.com
    • Installed wild card SSL on all 3 machines
After 2 days of troubleshooting and re-installing and deleting GPConfiguration dbs it was a sweet sight to get this working!

I agree with Ven.  I had similar issue and answer was exactly as Ven described.
