Workflow Logs

    We upgraded to GP2016 R2 Self Serve from Business Portal and utilizing Payroll Timecard ​​entry using Workflow. In Business Portal I was able to view a detail log of the workflow for a timecard. I would like to be able to view the log in Self Serve and see what step in the workflow it is utilizing. Most timecards end up in the queue they are supposed to but some are going to queues that don't make sense.

    Where is this Workflow log found?

    There is not a workflow log like there was in BP.  The workflow log also known now as workflow history is unfortunately with each transaction.  If you go to that transaction and open the workflow history you can see what path it took.  It doesn't have that same type of view as before where you would see everything in one area.  Keep in mind sometimes workflow items will take a different path if they don't meet the criteria for any of the workflows.  It is a good practice to setup the if it doesn't meet any of the criteria go to one person and that is on the setup screen for the workflow.

    ​Thank you Tonya. We are very new to Workflow. I know where the timecard transaction detail is in the Web Client but where is the transaction detail at so I can find the Workflow history? Is it in the full client? What is the navigation?

    I realize that you may have just upgraded to 2016R2, but GP2018 does add a Workflow History report.   In case you really need it.....

    ​The workflow history would server that purpose differently. You may even create a custom report pulling data from the workflow history and adding required fields. As an example, here is a SQL view for "Purchase Requisition History" on my blog.

    Hi Lori,

    In my GP 2018, the task is RPT_COMPANY_013* and the role that uses it is ACCOUNTING MANAGER* . There could be others, if you have added other tasks and roles.

    Lori! How are  you?
    We add these to the DEFAULT User Task normally but you can add them to any Task if you want them access more restricted. Or make a new Task: RPT_WF_01

    Yes and no. A prior customer in GA a bit larger than your former got ramsomwared last week. $12m. They told the malware guys to take a hike. Relocated and rebuilt the data center virtually so I got called to standup four web client servers for PTE only in GP2018+ and Winserver 2019.
    The lesson of the story is you best make sure your backups get copied out to a sub domain or different domain so they can be restored when the CLOP encrypts all the baks, mdfs, ldfs etc. at production and backup locations on the domain.
    Without backups things could be ugly.
