I have a customer on version GP 2010 R2 who just reported that on 4/30 she ran her year end close but forgot to check the box in the General Ledger setup window to maintain GL history and now all historical transaction history is missing.

I know in later versions you can reverse a year end close. I also know that as long as I have a backup (fingers crossed) we could either restore back to prior to 4/30 and run it again OR use SQL to pull the data out and bring it in...etc.

Any one have any other suggestions for options to get that historical GL transaction data back into GP for that version?

    Thank you,
    Susan

    Hi @Susan Gamache

I'm hoping that there is a backup they can quickly restore.  I believe that on that version this is going to be the only option for recovering the GL transactions in detail.

    Thanks Jo,

Thinking a bit on this. What-if I create a new company, restore last backup prior to close. Check the checkbox, close the year and bring in the GL30000 records for the year?  is that possible or am I over simplifying it.

    Thanks again,
    Susan

    Hi Jo,

Closing the loop. The best option was to restore and fortunately they had good backups.  I created a test copy to restore to, verified it, closed the year and then restored that company to prod. I also restored the test company with PROD data so they can review the transactions they had entered between 4/30 and today. Unfortunately they have a little rekeying to do but it was much less painful and less costly for them to take that route than doing the work in SQL.

    I appreciate your response today!
