GP 2015 (14.00.1059) unable to attach/preview document

    I recently did a fresh install of GP on a new laptop running Windows 10 build 1803.
    While I was able to install GP 2015 on it. The issue I am currently facing is I cannot attach any document or preview a document attached to a vendor card.

    If you cannot attach a file, but there are files already attached for you to preview, I would assume these files are stored in a folder outside your new instance.
    Has DYNGRP and/or the user been given security permissions to the folder?

    This is rather a unique case, other accounting staff are able to preview and attach documents
    This happens only my laptop as I got a new laptop, I installed GP 2015 R2 (14.00.1059) same as other staff.
    I checked on the event log which had this message
    "Connection Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed while attempting to consume the pre-login handshake acknowledgement. This could be because the pre-login handshake failed or the server was unable to respond back in time. The duration spent while attempting to connect to this server was - [Pre-Login] initialization=14802; handshake=13604; "

    I have checked the server for TCP port and firewall rules will allows inbound traffic for this port.

    Ganesh, check the other users dex.ini file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2015\Data folder

    There should be a line that says OLEPath=<path> and that path is where the OLE attachments are being stored, HOPEFULLY on a server.  You'll need to update your OLEPath to the location on your server where those attachments are stored.  Looks like this:
    OLEPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2015\Data\Notes\

    You probably need to change it to OLEPath=\\servername\folder\Notes

    Right now it's looking for the attachments on your new laptop which isn't going to have any. :)
