Correcting Earnings & Taxes

    Good morning!

We have a benefit that reimburses employees for computer purchases. We pay the full amount through AP, but do an imputed income for their taxes.

I have one employee who should not be deducted for taxes (here on a student visa). I missed this and just put the code in like I always do. Now I'm trying to figure out the best way to correct this.

I've already paid him back the additional amount in taxes he paid (through AP).

I was trying to do a manual check or adjustment to correct his taxable wages and and taxes (in the test data base), but it doesn't seem to be working. It won't allow me to post with a Gross Amount of $0.

Would this just be simpler, but still correct to edit the W2 manually since he's already received the taxes back? And what about the EFIC? It's only $53.55, but we really don't like to overpay the government!

    Thank you!
