Wrong check numbers

Is there a way to change check numbers?  In the reprinting process, an AP clerk forgot the change the check number back to the original check number as the originals printed on plain paper.  The resulting checks have a different check number printed on the live check stock.  We'd like to resync the number to the check stock.  This issue affects 15 checks.

    Hi Kelley

Just go in the Checkbook Maintenance (Financial >> Cards >> Financial >> Checkbook) and update the "Next Check Number" field.

    Hi Kelley,

If the check batch has been posted, you'll need to void the ones that were incorrectly numbered so that the invoices will become outstanding again. Once done, like what Pierre mentioned, you can edit the Next Check Number field in the Checkbook Setup window (need to allow Duplicate Check Numbers) and do another check run.

On the other hand, if the batch is still accessible in the Post Checks window (i.e. still unposted), you can set Process to Reprint Checks (again) and edit the Starting Payment Number.

As the check number printed on the live check stock, I find it is easier to void the checks. This will reopen the invoices and causes less headache.

Please keep in mind depending on the situation you have, the check start number is it same that printed? or is a check that can be used again?
