Lost Extender window permissions

    We have users that have lost the ability to open an extender window. (You do not have access to open this window) These users were previously able to access these.  No changes were made to their respective permissions, or to any of the Roles/Tasks.  If I add PowerUser to their roles, they are now able to access the Extender window.  

    I recently added a few items to a drop down list within the extender window they are attempting to access, but that should not have caused this issue and I have added items before without any consequences.

    Hi James,

    Do you have the Support Debugging Tool installed (SDT) ? the security profiler would probably help you identify the source of the problem.

    We recently had a battle with Extender permissions too. When we upgraded to GP 2013 last year, it appeared to work. Most of our GP work is done in one company and in that company users had access to the Extender windows. We discovered later that no one had access in other companies. To make matters worse, we couldn't see the Extender windows at all in Security Tasks to give access. We had to upgrade Extender, run several queries to fix various issues with the permissions, and finally re-create the security tasks for the Extender windows.

    Remember that Extender windows are per company and you need to set permissions separately for each company regardless of whether the windows have the same name. We try to make it clearer for the future by creating separate security tasks per company for Extender resources.

    So even if you copy resources from one company to another, they are different resources as far as permissions go. The Extender manuals assume you can figure this out on your own.

    Hi Bret,

    We are facing the same issue in not seeing the Extender Windows to assign security. We are on GP2013 and can't upgrade the components at this point. Do you have any ides/suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
