    Hello GP MFG users,

I've a question that was raised by our production department.. they try to find a solution to track the non-compliance products they receive from suppliers within the purchasing department. For a long time this was  mix-up of Sharepoint infopath forms, workflows and Excel reports.. After the recent upgrade to SharePoint 2013, they started to have problems with all the tools and are now looking for something to replace it.

Does anybody use and recommand an ISV solution that does Quality Control, non-compliance tracking, etc.. ? I've seen references to products like Vicinity Manufacturing, BatchMaster, and Quality Essentials from Horizon... The point is not to replace our manufacturing module in GP, but get something to track QA & PNC.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

I have been looking for the same thing!  I also need to track sorting and containment hours with associations to the product part numbers.  Good luck!  I'll be watching this thread!

Our Quality Essentials Suite modules integrate to any Dynamics product and do not require the purchase or licensing of our own manufacturing functionality. The aim is to provide a complete quality record while eliminating the need to duplicate part numbers, lot numbers, PO # or any other operational data.  The Data Management module focuses on the item specifications, data collection for testing and has residential reporting and dashboards.  Improvement Management focuses on actions like non-conformances, root cause, customer complaints etc. The Lot Management capability is only supported with integrations to DynamicsGP.

Contact me for further information if you are interested.

    Thank you Frances,

I've been suggested the QES by a few other members in the forums and will gladly forward the information to our production director and our head of purchasing..  I'll certainly get back to you for more details and a potential demo/trial (I always look for trial versions before deciding upon the purchase of a new product :-) ).  I'm happy to see that QES can be used without the HMS solution and even outside of GP without being connected if desired.

    Have a great day,

    Beat,

Since your post involves QA of inbound materials, I would strongly suggest taking a look at the QA module provided with Dynamics GP.

Additionally, Frank Hamelly has suggested a novel approach to using the Dynamics GP QA module for production. Take a look at this post:

    Thank you Harry,

Going to poke Frank about his solution.. looks interesting and we might already own the QA module in GP... didn't knew about that :-).

    Have a great day.

I am looking at the QA module within GP, does it only apply to incoming material?  It doesnt appear to be able to handle any quality issues produced here in our factory.  Also does anyone know if this QA module is acceptable in regards to ISO standards?

    More than just QA Incoming.

Dynamics GP Quality Assurance integrates with a manufacturing order's working routing. You can use it to track test procedures on WIP items.

It works well out of the box when coupled and configured with the GP Manufacturing Series.

One thing standard GP still behind is, if I remember correctly as this was GP 2010 which might not be applicable anymore, lacking of Vendor Performance when it comes to QA.  We came up with customized SSRS as a fix for QA manager.

You are correct sir. Dynamics GP has nothing related to Vendor Performance Management. The SSRS toolset that you have developed sounds very interesting. It is a good example of using the tools available in the platform to fill the gaps where the application comes up short.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Silver for your feedback,

Would you mind to share a little more details about your SSRS reports that you use for the Vendor performance KPI (if it can be called like this .. ) ?

I've not yet been able to dig into the QA module from GP with our purchasing department, but that could be a complementary association with that SSRS report.

    Hey @Beat Bucher
What did you end up doing on this?  We are struggling through MDN/NCR with POs and MFG.  Any direction is appreciated.  Or possibly a different thread that i cant find.  Thanks

    Hi Rick,
I no longer work for this company, but my recalling is that the whole concept of quality control for inbound material was dropped at some point, or just left to the responsability of the purchasing manager to handle thru Excel workbooks :-(
The company didn't wanted to spend $$ into a QA application and the module in GP was never considered at all (not even looked at).
I think that the QA module of GP combined with a little customizations and SSRS reports would probably do the job, but then again, it never went that far.
Check out the QMS solution from Horizon, as it might be easier and quicker to implement than building something custom.
Sorry I can't  help more than that.
