Checkbook setup-load outstanding checks

We are in the process of implementing GP.  Can anyone tell me how to load my beginning outstanding checks for the 1st time to the bank reconciliation module/checkbook?

    Thanks!

    Hi @Mary Walker

You will want to enter them in as a bank transaction type: check.

Basically what you will do is enter them into the Sub Ledger without hitting the GL since you've probably already entered in your beginning balances for your balance sheet accounts which includes your checkbook.

    1.  Verify posting setup is turned off.  Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Posting > Posting
         - Series Financial and Origin Bank Transaction Entry
         - Uncheck the Post to GL and Post Through General Ledger Files if they are checked.  Make note of which one was checked for #3 below.

    2.  Enter the outstanding checks into the Bank Transaction Entry window.

    3.  Go back into the Posting setup window and check the Post to General Ledger and Post Through General Ledger Files if it was checked before.

    4.  All done.  Verify that the entries weren't posted to the GL by looking at the account summary for your bank account GL.  Also verify by looking at the Checkbook Register that the outstanding checks are there.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Side note after you turn off the posting I would ask people in the system to refrain from working on bank transactions until you have it turned back on in step #3.  Unless they are helping you enter in the outstanding checks from #2 above then it's ok.
