Register for PBIUG Focus for Access to Power BI Hands-On Workshops

The upcoming PBIUG Focus conference, hosted by the Dynamics Power BI User Group (PBIUG), will feature Power BI Hands-On Workshops at the end of each conference day where attendees can practice what they’ve been learning about Power BI. As a reminder, GPUG members receive free member access to PBIUG.

Hands-on workshops are practical training, where attendees can physically use the product being studied, in this case – Power BI. There are many benefits to hands-on learning including improving your critical thinking skills, increased retention rates, and personal guidance from an expert instructor. Read on to learn more about the Power BI workshops being offered at PBIUG Focus:

This Power BI Hands-On Lab is based on instructor Scott Sewell’s “Create Your First Report in Under an Hour” breakout session, held Wednesday, May 10 at 1:30 p.m. During that session, Scott will share how to set up Power BI and create your first report (presentation style). Then attend his lab later that day to recreate the process yourself! This is a great way to get started if you’re new to Power BI.

This Power BI Hands-On Lab is more like a study hall. Instructor Ted Pattison will have a selection of labs that attendees can try out with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on-hand to help along the way. Take your pick from the various labs and get your hands dirty. This is a great way to improve a variety of Power BI skills.

Besides the Power BI Hands-On Workshops, this two-day, deep-dive training conference will also offer 25+ 90-minute sessions led by Industry Experts in three targeted tracks: Essentials, Technical, and Visuals. Content will focus on analyzing your data (from all sources - including Dynamics GP) with Power BIClick here to view the full PBIUG Focus agenda and here's a preview:

  • Best Practices in Power BI
  • Tell the Right Story With Your Data
  • The Query Playbook for Power BI Desktop

You may be wondering how PBIUG Focus compares to the recent GPUG Amplify conference. PBIUG Program Director Rose Spitzer says:

"The biggest difference between these events is the software you're coming to learn about. GPUG Amplify primarily focused around Dynamics GP education, whereas at PBIUG Focus, we’ll be working through everything from connecting and prepping your data to creating amazing visuals and sharing them in multiple ways. Our three tracks will appeal to every level of Power BI user and take each on to the next level. "

Attending PBIUG Focus, held May 10-11, 2017 in St. Louis, MO, will allow your field of focus to grow in exciting ways – join your Power BI peers at this advanced training conference to dive in deep and emerge a Power BI expert.
