I'm pleased to announce that the GPUG Board of Advisors has voted unanimously, 8-0, to add two new Board members from outside North America to its ranks effective November 1, 2019. GPUG added an annual end user event in Johannesburg, South Africa during 2018 and then another annual end user event in Melbourne, Australia during 2019, and the newest appointed members are from these countries. At GPUG Summit in Orlando earlier this month, I finalized our General Session that Thursday morning with a brief ‘community update’ and the last item I mentioned was these impressive additions. To say that I’m excited to begin working with these two is an understatement as they are very excited to be advising me and my GPUG colleagues at Dynamic Communities.
David Joosten is IT Executive Manager at Premier Foods near Johannesburg. Premier has over 1000 concurrent users (yes, you read that right) on Dynamics GP, which makes it the largest (and probably most complex) installation in the world. He is very familiar with GPUG and has been to the USA to attend both GPUG Summit and GP Tech Conference. He will make an ideal GPUG Board of Advisors member and was recommended by his partner firm Braintree, the largest Dynamics reseller on the African continent.
Eric Gernan oversees all things Dynamics GP and Concur at amaysim Australia, Ltd., the 4th largest telecommunications company in Australia (based in Sydney). I met Eric in Melbourne during August and he impressed me immediately. Eric comes with a rousing endorsement from his boss, who indicated to me that Eric was a key component in their back office technology management. I watched him take in all things GPUG Summit Australia and learn from some of our best North American & Australian speakers. He, too, will make an ideal GPUG Board of Advisors member.
My congratulations to both David and Eric for their newly elected positions within our Dynamics GP User Group. I’m thrilled they are joining us and know they are anxious to get started. Let’s get to work on 2020!
